Part of the exciting AKC National Championship, presented by Royal Canin, are the special events. This includes the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS), which has crowned its Best in Show winner after fierce competition on December 14 at the Orange Country Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

NOHS Best in Show

Owner-handler Alexis Chism and her German Wirehaired Pointer “Greta” earned top honors at the 2025 AKC National Championship, capturing the National Owner-Handled Series (NOHS) Best in Show title and rising above a competitive field of the nation’s top owner-handled dogs.

Greta, officially known as GCHG CH Wirewick Afterhours Feels Like A Regret BN RN JH FDC CGCA CGCU TKA ATT VHMA VSWB, is owned and handled by Chism and was bred by Robert Wickes, Marion Hancock, and Alexis Chism. Her NOHS win highlights the dedication, skill, and partnership that define success within the owner-handled community.

The National Owner-Handled Series celebrates exhibitors who present and campaign their own dogs, recognizing excellence in breed type, conditioning, and ring presence. Competing at the AKC National Championship — one of the sport’s most prestigious events — Greta rose to the top of a highly competitive field.

German Wirehaired Pointers are known for their versatility, intelligence, and athleticism, qualities Greta has demonstrated throughout her career both in and out of the conformation ring. Her accomplishments reflect not only her quality as a dog, but also the commitment behind her training, preparation, and presentation.

Greta’s NOHS victory marks another milestone in her career and underscores the strength of owner-handlers competing at the highest levels of the sport.

Reserve Best in Show in the National Owner Handler Series was Bichon Frise “Barbie.” Barbie, GCHB CH Hallmark You Can Be Anything, is owned by Carol Fellbaum, Marleen Greif, and Joanne Rubin. Barbie was bred by Joseph Bernier, Maria Bernier, Kathie Vogel, and Danielle Ardagna.
